McKenzie Vibbert Obituary Greenwood IN and GoFundMe | Indianapolis IN

It is with immense sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of McKenzie Vibbert on Friday, April 4, 2025. A shining light in every space she entered, McKenzie was a devoted mother, a passionate advocate, and a force of compassion in her community.

Born and raised in Greenwood, Indiana, McKenzie—lovingly known as “Kenz” to her many friends and loved ones—was a woman of strength, empathy, and boundless warmth. She was just weeks away from completing her Master of Social Work degree at Indiana University, where she had dedicated herself to championing mental health, social equity, and support for marginalized communities.

Kenz was a true nurturer at heart. Her love for her two children, Kaydence and Knox, was the center of her world. She brought laughter, gentleness, and fierce protection into their lives every day. Her strength in motherhood was matched only by her drive to create change through her career in social work.

Professionally, McKenzie wore many hats—each with grace and grit. She was a behavioral health intern at Eskenazi Health, where she worked closely with adults battling addiction and mental health challenges. She previously served as a Resident Services Coordinator at Lutheran Child & Family Services, guiding young adults who had aged out of foster care toward independent living. Her impact was tangible in every life she touched.

In addition to her advocacy, McKenzie was also the proud owner of Alivia Knox Photography, capturing love and life’s precious moments with her artistic eye and genuine spirit.

Throughout her time at Planned Parenthood as an Education Professional, McKenzie fiercely believed in inclusive, affirming education and healthcare. She was a bold voice in reproductive health, social justice, and healing.

Emily Tackett, a close friend, wrote in a fundraiser for her family: “Kenz was one of the most supportive, caring, and resilient individuals I have ever met. She knew no stranger, always brought warmth and light wherever she went, and had a heart that overflowed with kindness.”

Her loss has left a profound void in the hearts of those who loved her. Friends, colleagues, clients, and mentors are mourning not only the bright future that was ahead of her, but also the powerful legacy she has already left behind. As Vernon Humphries-Barbary shared, “The young fella in this pic has already lost BOTH his parents. What a sad situation… She was loved and her circle is BIG.”

McKenzie is survived by her children, Kaydence and Knox; her partner Heath Price; her extended family and friends; and a vast community that cherished her deeply.

A GoFundMe campaign titled “Support for McKenzie Vibbert’s Family” has been launched to help her children and partner navigate this devastating transition.

The world is indeed a darker place without McKenzie Vibbert—but her light lives on in the lives she changed, the people she loved, and the future she fought for.

Rest easy, Kenz. You will never be forgotten.
