With profound sorrow and broken hearts, we announce the untimely passing of Skyler William Smith, age 21, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, who tragically left this world on April 5th, 2025.
Skyler was a bright light, full of life and love. With sparkling blue eyes and a magnetic spirit, he embraced every moment with passion and joy. Whether it was a hike through the woods or a late-night adventure with friends, Skyler found beauty in the little things and made the most of life. He had an undeniable love for the outdoors and a deep appreciation for the world around him.
More than anything, Skyler loved his family and friends. He was dependable, loyal, and kind-hearted, always showing up for others without hesitation. He carried a warmth that made people feel safe, valued, and understood.
His passing has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him. As Brittany Young, a family friend, shared through a GoFundMe campaign titled “Skyler William Smith”, “Burying your child is something a parent should never have to do or prepare for.” With the blessing of both the Walsh and Smith families, the fundraiser aims to support funeral expenses and ease the unimaginable burden on his loved ones.
The Sambro Island Lighthouse Heritage Society expressed heartfelt condolences, writing:
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steph Smith and her family on the loss of her son Skyler.”
