It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tara Buksaitis of Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

Tara was a beloved member of the academic community and served as the Registrar and Director of Enrolment Planning at St. Francis Xavier University for the past ten years. In her role, she touched countless lives—mentoring students, supporting faculty, and leading with compassion, wisdom, and dedication.

Originally from Greenwood, Nova Scotia, Tara pursued her higher education at Dalhousie University, where she laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to learning and service.

Tara joined StFX in July 2014 and quickly became a trusted leader and friend. Her commitment to student success, her deep integrity, and her warm presence left an enduring mark on everyone she worked with.

Colleagues remember Tara as someone who led with heart and purpose. Her contributions to StFX went far beyond the office—she was a mentor, a confidante, and a kind soul who always found time for others, no matter how busy she was.
